FYI, the worlds fastest lawnmower is claimed by the Dixie Chopper Jet Mower built in 1991 by Dixie Choppers owner Art Evans and was on a 1993 episode of Tim Alllen's sitcom Home Improvement. The fastest at Bonneville is the black one above (not the monster truck one) which clocked at 96.529 in 2010

Above, the Odd Couple slingshot, the front engine is a Chev, and the rear is the 3rd hemi to hang in the back of the AA/gas dragster. The Chev never broke in the 2 years that 3 hemis ate dirt

I see two engines in the back, and I don't remember seeing a double engined wheelstander before. Photo was at OCIR. I think that the drivers side door says M/T chassis. Huh?

the EPA bought a Superbird, and it sold at govt auction years later for only $500

the short story is that the EPA wanted to test the exhaust of aircraft, and the brake dust from them too, so they needed a car with a high speed ability that could keep up. A 200 mph car that was affordable? Superbird of course. They added measuring equipment in the trunk, and a aircraft to car radio above the ashtray, and only used it for 10,000 miles and less than 9 years before it went to auction.

1956 Oldsmobile Golden Rocket had an interesting design for a steering wheel. the spokes are at one side. Looks like maybe the speedometer was in the center of the steering wheel too... imagine how far that steering wheel would roll up toward the roof
