WHAT A 1930'S DUESENBURG CAR DEALERSHIP SHOWROOM MIGHT HAVE LOOKED LIKE

WHAT A 1930'S DUESENBURG CAR DEALERSHIP SHOWROOM MIGHT HAVE LOOKED LIKE.

SOME PEOPLE WAIT A LIFETIME TO FIND A GREAT CAR, SOME FIND IT WHEN THEY ARE A TEEN, AND WAIT A LIFETIME TO WON IT. MARK WAS A FORTUNATE RARITY, HE GOT BOTH THE CAR HE DESIRED 30ISH YEARS AGO, AND IT'S A BARNFIND 1969 GT 500 SHELBY MUSTANG

Mark's neighbor was an attorney that owned 3 Shelby Stangs, acquiring each as payment on cases, and this was the one he drove the most and damaged in the early 80's, and then parked it in the warehouse over his office.

Proof that Ebay sellers are lunatics and over-estimate the value of their garage sale finds

the only other Petty Sueprbird license plate you're going to see is http://justacarguy.blogspot.com/2012/09/rare-license-plate-richard-petty-had.html but that doesn't mean anyone wants one bad enough to blow a paycheck or so for one that will then be a dust collector

Who drives a Pathfinder with license plates 5 years expired?

Want your pre 1980's car to have the right era license plate, if you are in California.. it's now possible. Law AB 1658 has passed and the DMV will stamp out the vintage plates as far back as the 1950's Yellow plate with black letters

http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/california-politics/2012/10/california-dmv-vintage-license-plates.html

For an extra $50, California car enthusiasts will soon be able to order vintage license plates, including the black plates with yellow lettering issued by the Department of Motor Vehicles in the 1960s, thanks to action taken by Gov. Jerry Brown.

Among the hundreds of bills signed by the governor last week, AB 1658 is aimed at Californians who restore and drive vintage automobiles, as well as residents who are just nostalgic for the good old days.

Other plates to be offered after Jan. 1 include those used in the 1950s, with a yellow background and black lettering, and those issued in the 1980s, with a blue background and yellow lettering.

The DMV will only produce one of the designs once 7,500 applications have been received for that design statewide.

Opel GT with customized license plates to accommodate the cars odd size and shape

Ever seen anyone ventilate a license plate before?

Even the back plate is trimmed and rolled over to get it to fit in the car makers formed area

Nice Mustang, and great collection of stickers and decals... but I noticed the unique treatment of the license plate, first I've seen made to look like a 1960's

Putting the Holman Moody decal across the hood this way sure grabbed my attention, but then I glanced at the plate, and noticed the aging and color treatment that they've given it, as it is not a 1960' plate, it's just the right colors. The new plates are easy to spot, because they have 7 characters. All the yellow letter on black background plates for cars were 6 characters, the first 3 were letters, the 2nd 3 were numbers. Of course the commercial vehicles (includes El Camino and Ranchero) were different and easy to distinguish from the cars plates

also the front and back have a different texture in this aging and coloring example

pretty cool to go to this trouble to make the plates seem to be the right ones for the decade. If this car really had the black and yellow plates for a car from 1965-66 they would probably be something like ppp111 through sss-999

Can you figure out this license plate?

It's the plate of a co-workers girlfriend, and it's a lot more complicated than I guessed. I'll post the answer here in this post tomorrow.

One good guess from J King, that backwards it would be "In a VII (roman numeral 7)"

Because a roman numeral was integrated into this, "Eye for an eye"
 I IV an I
