WHAT A 1930'S DUESENBURG CAR DEALERSHIP SHOWROOM MIGHT HAVE LOOKED LIKE

WHAT A 1930'S DUESENBURG CAR DEALERSHIP SHOWROOM MIGHT HAVE LOOKED LIKE.

SOME PEOPLE WAIT A LIFETIME TO FIND A GREAT CAR, SOME FIND IT WHEN THEY ARE A TEEN, AND WAIT A LIFETIME TO WON IT. MARK WAS A FORTUNATE RARITY, HE GOT BOTH THE CAR HE DESIRED 30ISH YEARS AGO, AND IT'S A BARNFIND 1969 GT 500 SHELBY MUSTANG

Mark's neighbor was an attorney that owned 3 Shelby Stangs, acquiring each as payment on cases, and this was the one he drove the most and damaged in the early 80's, and then parked it in the warehouse over his office.

Hurricane Sandy aftermath as it relates to collector cars

http://www.hagerty.com/classic-car-articles-resources/Features/News has several articles and videos regarding hurricane preparations you can make to save your collector cars, tools, spare parts, etc.

I hope all of you are safe, your things are insured, and your health is intact.

few prototypes and concept cars are coming up in emails that I haven't seen before, but Randy found one with some previously that I had never seen

coincidentally this 1948 Cadillac Series 62 by Soutchik was just the car in a 2012 calendar that a coworker has... and I was going to look it up. Now I don't need to!
this car was in the Imperial Casino car collection/ museum http://vizlepcso.blogspot.hu/2008/07/auto-collections-tizenhatodik-rsz.html

1953 Cadillac by Ghia... the Rita Hayworth car
it has an interesting history http://justacarguy.blogspot.com/2011/03/1953-cadillac-series-62-rebodied-by.html and the color in daylight is closer to purple.

1955 Lincoln Indianapolis

1956 Oldsmobile Golden Rocket had an interesting design for a steering wheel. the spokes are at one side. Looks like maybe the speedometer was in the center of the steering wheel too... imagine how far that steering wheel would roll up toward the roof

1957 Chrysler Diablo by Ghia

The car, and the competition... the Better Off Dead 1967 Camaro

a funny situation in the movie Better Off Dead that I forgot about until I rewatched it just now to see the Camaro, was the rivalry between John Cusack's character Lane Meyer, and the two brothers in the Falcon. Every time that Lane came to a stop light, these brothers were waiting and goading him to a drag race. The driver didn't speak English, and the passenger learned from Wide World of Sports by listening to Howard Cosell. So he grabs a CB microphone and speaks over a PA system mounted to the Falcon roof.

Lane is driving a station wagon because early in the movie his Camaro doesn't run

The station wagon loses. A lot.

Then the cute girl across the street decides to help out our hero in need

And now the dashing young hero wins. Good movie, 1985 wholesome teenage highschool goodness.

And that damn newspaper kid that wants his two dollars:

I first posted about the Camaro 5 years ago when I learned that it had been found and restored. http://justacarguy.blogspot.com/2007/07/camaro-from-better-off-dead-found-and.html

the hot rod that cushioned the helicopter crash in the Green Lantern

A thing others won't understand, like the 1970's van craze, extended front fork choppers of the late 60's, and other trends that come and go... this is Bosozoku. In Japan

The hoods are flatter than usual, overhang the grill most of the time, running boards added, fenders and quarterpanels are widened and flattened, and the exhaust gets extravagant pipes... really tall ones. I'm happy to see something new emerge, it brings a new interesting thing to look at. Nothing wrong with that

A VW Bug graveyard in the Mel Gibson movie "Get the Gringo" a good movie, good story, well written

Wonderful vehicles from the magnificent Studio Ghibli and Mr Miyazaki movie "Castle in the Sky" 1986

A dress catcher on a bike in the movie " Hysteria " which is a cool movie by the way, with the wonderful Maggie Gyllenhaall

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1435513/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1 for more information about it

Similar to this dress catcher is the skirt guard http://justacarguy.blogspot.com/2012/06/things-that-are-obsolete-and-ive-never.html

I wonder if "Rides A Bike" http://ridesabike.tumblr.com/ has this image yet? Great website of celebrities on bikes

the movie Rock of Ages is the first I've seen to use a DeLorean as a piece of scenery. Huh. A GTO too.
